Description
Escape rooms and breakout classrooms have found their way into today’s elementary classroom! They are such a great way to increase student engagement and to promote collaborative learning. This multiplication escape activity is a perfect way to culminate your fourth grade multiplication unit.
Here’s what’s included:
-Teacher Directions
-Student Directions
-Clue 1-Students match the multiplicative comparison statements. They will use a ruler to draw a
line from the dots on the left to the corresponding dots on the right. The letters in the center of the
page that are NOT crossed out give the code for the first lock.
-Clue 2-Students find the factors of the four numbers on their recording sheet. They should look
closely at the factors and find the four factors that each number has in common.
That number combination will unlock the next clue.
-Clue 3-Students solve each of the multiplication problems. As they multiply, students should find
the product on the bottom of the recording sheet. Students will use the hieroglyphic decoder
to determine the mystery message.
-Clue 4-Students will complete the sieve of eratosthenes and use that information to find the next clue.
This can be used with Breakout Edu boxes or with your own boxes and locks. If you do not have boxes and locks, you may use the digital version, where students submit their answers on Google Forms.
