Description
Escape rooms and breakout classrooms have found their way into today’s elementary classroom! They are such a great way to increase student engagement and to promote collaborative learning. This fraction escape activity is a perfect way to culminate your fourth grade fraction unit.
Here’s what’s included:
-Teacher Directions
-Student Directions
-Clue 1-equivalent fractions. Students match all of the puzzle pieces with another puzzle
piece that represents an equivalent fraction.
-Clue 2-Students must use fraction understanding to map the fairgrounds for their next
combination. Students will look at an outline of each section of the fair and use that information
to answer five questions about the map.
-Clue 3-Students solve each of the word problems that require adding and subtracting fractions
with a common denominator and multiplying a fraction by a whole number.
-Clue 4-Students use the pattern blocks provided to complete the pattern block table.
This can be used with Breakout Edu boxes or with your own boxes and locks. If you do not have boxes and locks, you may use the digital version, where students submit their answers on Google Forms.
